Broccoli Canopy
A trip to the British museum with my sister began my obsession with Indian miniature paintings. This wallpaper pattern owes more than a nod to the Mughal style, with intricate detail and a profusion of plants. Painted shapes make up a naive canopy of trees in a mixture of colours.
I painted this in gouache paints, trying to add different hues to each tree and giving them an outline of a different colour so they pop.
I then scanned the artwork and cleaned up the image on photoshop. After I repeated it on Photoshop I started to play around with the colour until it started to balance and work.
I love the overall texture of this design and I can see it working in a lot of different rooms.
